1. Spring Pregnancy Announcement Photoshoot
Many first-time moms like to have a big announcement that they’re having a baby. I recommend a Spring pregnancy announcement as one of the first things you do if you haven’t told people yet.
You can capture the excitement of your pregnancy by announcing the news with a creative photoshoot.
Take a simple snapshot of your ultrasound or a themed photoshoot in a blooming garden and choose a location that holds significance for you and your partner. The location could be the place where you first met or your favourite outdoor spot, for some examples.
Make sure to add a sweet touch to the photos by including props like baby shoes, onesies, or a chalkboard with the due date.
You can even get fancier and make it Easter-themed by holding a basket full of easter eggs with your ultrasound picture in it. How cute would that be?!
Consider hiring a professional photographer if you have the funds. Alternatively, get the help of a friend with a good eye for capturing special moments.
2. Plan an Earthy Baby Shower
The next item that was on my checklist for Spring pregnancy must-dos is planning the perfect baby shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival of your little one.
From selecting the theme to organizing games and activities, this event is a chance for you and your baby to be showered with love and appreciation.
Start by choosing a date and location for the baby shower.
If you want to take the risk, you can hold the shower outside but keep in mind there tends to be a lot of rain during the springtime.
My baby shower was at the end of April last year and it was pouring that day - I was grateful my baby shower was inside!
Select a theme that reflects your style, whether it's a classic pastel palette or a whimsical woodland theme.
Plan fun games and activities to keep guests entertained, such as baby bingo, diaper raffles, or onesie decorating stations.
Don't forget to send out invitations well in advance. Be sure to include the link for your registry to help guests select the gifts you need!
Planning my baby shower was the most fun I’ve had in my pregnancy but was also the most stressful.
I recommend you have someone do most of the planning and executing so you can enjoy your time.
3. Have Someone Make You a Cake to Reveal Your Baby’s Gender
The next thing Spring pregnancy must do is a gender reveal. Now, many families prefer not to make gender reveal a big thing or don’t want to know their baby's gender. Some people want to have fun with it though!
You can hold a gender reveal party or include it as part of your baby shower. There are many ways you can do this.
I don’t condone anything that puts the environment at risk or could cause a forest fire. So, I suggest something simple like having someone bake you a cake that reveals your baby’s gender on the inside of the cake.
You could also pop balloons full of confetti. Get a black balloon so when you pop it open, it either reveals pink or blue confetti.
Don’t forget to capture this moment on camera!
4. Mother's Day picnic/dinner (hint some presents)
Your baby may not be born yet but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be celebrated as a mom yet!
Plan a Mother’s Day picnic or dinner and celebrate the fact that this is your last Mother’s Day without having a baby yourself.
Be sure to hint some presents and you can find present ideas in my most recent blog post on Mother’s Day gift ideas.
Spring is the perfect time for a picnic to celebrate all the mamas you know. Pick a date when there shouldn’t be any rain and have some fun.
Make it potluck style so there’s less pressure on you. You are pregnant after all!
5. Spring Cleaning and Nesting
If you’re in the third trimester already, you’re probably experiencing the nesting instinct. Spring is the perfect time to declutter and take advantage of this!
You can read more about my tips and tricks for decluttering your home for your baby in this article.
Start by selecting a colour scheme or theme for the nursery, whether it's gender-neutral tones like mint green or soft grey, or a more specific theme like animals, nature, or outer space.
Choose furniture pieces that are functional, safe, and stylish, including a crib, changing table, and rocking chair.
Add personal touches with decorative elements like wall decals, framed artwork, and plush toys.
Don't forget to consider practical aspects like storage solutions for diapers, clothes, and toys to keep the nursery organized and clutter-free.
I recommend setting up some of these stations in your room for at least the first 6-months after your baby is born. It’s recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics that your baby sleeps in your room for at least 6-months.
If you have the funds, you can set up these different stations in both rooms.
Other than setting up the nursery, you can work on getting rid of clutter and disinfecting various areas of your home that you might not get to soon enough after your baby is born.
6. Spring Maternity Pictures
I especially recommend first-time moms to capture the beauty of their pregnancy with a memorable maternity photoshoot. Whether it's a solo session or a family affair, you will treasure these photos for years and years.
Choose a photographer who has experience in taking maternity photos because they will know the perfect angles for your belly.
Decide with the photographer if you want the photo shoot to be indoors, outdoors, or a mix of both. Find inspiration on Pinterest and send those photos to the photographer as they’ll be able to mimic them.
Consider wearing flowy dresses like this dress, form-fitting gowns, or casual attire that highlights your baby bump and makes you feel comfortable and confident. Don't forget to involve your partner and older siblings in the photoshoot to capture the excitement of welcoming your baby.
Spring is a beautiful season to have your photoshoot! I had my maternity photoshoot in May of 2023 and I loved having the beautiful Spring flowers in the background of my outdoor photoshoot.
7. Spring Babymoon Getaway
Before your little one arrives, take some time to relax and reconnect with your partner on a babymoon getaway. After having a baby, many couples report lower relationship satisfaction, so this is the perfect chance for you to get some one-on-one time!
Whether it's a romantic weekend escape or a relaxing beach vacation, this trip is a chance to enjoy some quality time together before the sleepless nights begin.
Choose a destination that offers the perfect balance of relaxation and fun!
Plan activities that cater to your interests and energy levels like a couples massage or exploring local attractions.
Pack essentials like comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and prenatal vitamins, and don't forget to consult with your healthcare provider before travelling!
You could also pretend you're away and have a staycation with no interruptions.
A babymoon is something my partner and I didn’t do and we have some serious regrets about it!
8. Pregnancy Journalling and Documentation
This is another activity I wish I had done in pregnancy. Journalling and documentation is definitely a Spring pregnancy must-do but can start from the beginning of your pregnancy to the end.
Documenting your pregnancy journey through journaling is a beautiful way to record memories, emotions, and milestones along the way.
Whether it's writing letters to your baby, jotting down thoughts and reflections, or documenting physical changes, this practice allows you to connect with your pregnancy on a deeper level.
You can buy a pregnancy journal like this one and start documenting!
Set aside time each day or week to reflect on your pregnancy journey, jotting down thoughts, feelings, and experiences as they arise.
Get creative with prompts and exercises to inspire your writing, such as describing your baby's movements, sharing hopes and dreams for the future, or documenting cravings and aversions.
The best way to enjoy your pregnancy is to have a plan. What better way to follow a plan than to make use of a checklist?
I hope that this checklist full of Spring pregnancy must-dos gives you lots of things to do in your pregnancy that allow you to embrace the joys of it. There’s lots to do so make sure you get started today!
